MASD COVID-19 TESTING PROCEDURES
Beginning Monday, January 24, 2022
Ø COVID testing is voluntary and will ONLY be completed with parent permission.
Ø Testing is for symptomatic MASD students and staff ONLY.
Ø The PCR nasal swab test kits are provided and processed by Quest Diagnostics.
Ø All tests are covered either by insurance or the CARES Act for those without insurance.
Ø Parents are encouraged to complete the simple “COVID-19 PCR TESTING PARENT CONSENT FORM” immediately so it is on file with the District, if needed.
TESTING SYMPTOMATIC STUDENTS/STAFF WHO ARE NOT IN SCHOOL
If a student/staff member is at home and develops symptoms, they must call the appropriate testing hotline as listed below to schedule a testing appointment.
TESTING HOTLINE:
· Students/Staff at Reid, Kunkel, MAMS and MAHS: 717-364-7711. DO NOT CALL A SCHOOL OR OFFICE.
· Students/Staff at Fink Elementary: 717-948-3370
DAYS/TIMES:
· Testing is available Monday through Friday.
· Appointments will be scheduled in 15-minute increments between 8:30am-11:00am and 12:00pm-2:30pm.
DRIVE-UP TESTING LOCATIONS:
· Students/Staff at Reid, Kunkel, MAMS and MAHS will be tested at REID. Follow signs to the side entrance.
· Students/Staff at Fink Elementary will be tested at Fink. Follow signs to the front entrance.
TESTING PROCEDURES:
· A parent/guardian must accompany the student and bring the following items:
o Driver’s License
o Insurance Card - if individual does not have insurance, their test will be covered by the CARES Act.
· The testing coordinator or designee will give a testing packet and instructions to the student or parent to administer from their vehicle.
· Parent will complete a testing form.
· Student or parent will administer the test and place it back in the bag.
· Parent will then be given printed instructions to find results on either the “My Quest App” or the Quest website.
TESTING SYMPTOMATIC STUDENT/STAFF WHO ARE IN SCHOOL
If a student/staff member is symptomatic in school, established protocols will be followed to isolate the individual.
· Parent will be contacted immediately to determine whether or not to proceed with testing.
· If the student has a signed consent form on file, the student will administer their own test before parent is at school.
· If a student does not have a consent form on file, or if the parent prefers to be present during testing, the testing will be held until the parent arrives.
· Students who self-administer the test will be escorted to their vehicle when their parent arrives, and the parent will be asked to complete a testing form.
· Parent will then be given printed instructions to find results on either the “My Quest App” or the Quest website.
RESULTS
IF POSITIVE…
· Parent will be contacted by the student’s building nurse.
· Please do not call the District if you see a positive result online. You will be contacted by the school nurse.
· COVID isolation will begin SEE GUIDELINES HERE and remote learning will be implemented when the student is able.
IF NEGATIVE…
· Parent must follow the District’s protocol for student illness.
· The school will only reach out to negative cases after 1-2 days of absence if there has been no communication, such as an excuse note, from the parent.
