In early 2018, the District retained the services of Architerra, a professional landscape architectural firm with years of experience designing athletic facilities, to conduct a feasibility study to assess the use of all District athletic fields. One result of the study showed a need for improved playing surfaces for soccer and field hockey. With the assistance of Architerra, the District developed an Athletic Field Master Plan to address this need. As a result, the design and build of a new turf stadium was implemented.

Ground was broken in the fall of 2020 for the new stadium project which will be located in front of the High School. The stadium, which will house one of the largest artificial turf surfaces in the Mid-Penn Conference, will be predominantly used for soccer, field hockey, marching band and physical education classes. The new surface will level the playing field for equitable home field opportunities no matter what the weather forecast brings on game day.

In addition to providing the ability to host events during inclement weather, the new facility will also help preserve and maintain the natural grass surface at War Memorial Field by relocating soccer competitions to the new stadium. The stadium will also offer spectators a more suitable vantagepoint for viewing athletic matches, and also provide a competitive venue for our youth feeder programs.

The new home of the Blue Raiders will include multiple team rooms, a built-in concession stand, a press box, and seating for 500. Its proximity to the High School parking lot will provide ample parking for events. We look forward to the project’s completion in the fall of 2021 in time for the Blue Raiders soccer and field hockey teams to take over the turf for their fall seasons.
