Nathan D. Russo, MAHS sophomore, is a Life Scout at Boy Scout Troop 594 in Middletown which is sponsored by the American Legion Post 594. Through discussion with township management and long time residents, Nathan discovered that the lighted baseball field at Little Hollywood Park in Lower Swatara Township, known as Memorial Field, was never named for anyone or anything in particular. Russo decided to change that with his Eagle Scout Project.

With permission from the Township, Russo purchased five flagpoles and one flag for each the Armed Forces of the United States: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. His $4000 project was financed by the generosity of area businesses and individual donors. On Veterans' Day, Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. a dedication ceremony will be held with the assistance of American Legion Post 594. Russo will raise the flags and the field will be dedicated to the Armed Forces of the United States of America. Russo hopes his project will bring awareness and recognition to the men and women who serve and have served in our Military, allowing us to enjoy freedom as citizens of the USA.  Nathan Russo

The public is invited to attend the Flag Dedication Ceremony. The first 100 guests will receive a free patriotic face mask.
