Parent Back-To-School Checklist

Dear MASD Parents/Guardians:

To help families prepare for the new school year, we are sending parents/guardians a weekly “homework” assignment. Completing ONE back-to-school task per week will prevent you from being overwhelmed with addressing a long checklist the week before school starts.

Last week we sent you your first assignment - CAFETERIA. Did you complete your homework?! Is your SchoolCafe account funded? Did you apply for free/reduced meals? We know several of you DID because we received 34 completed applications! GREAT JOB!

This week's homework assignment pertains to IMMUNIZATIONS & MEDICATIONS.

Everything you need to know regarding immunization requirements and medications can be found on our HEALTH SERVICES page. Please visit the page to find important information and requirements for your child's safety.

IMMUNIZATIONS: will your child be permitted to attend the first day of school? Here are this year's immunizations deadlines:
  • Monday, August 26, 2019: the 7th and 12th grade deadline to submit proof of immunizations is the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. Students with incomplete immunizations on file will not be permitted to attend classes on the first day of school.
  • Tuesday, September 3, 2019: last day to submit proof of immunizations for grades K-6 and 8-11.
  • Wednesday, September 4, 2019: RISK OF EXCLUSION for grades K-6 and 8-11. Students in grades K-6 and 8-11 with incomplete immunizations on file will not be permitted to attend school beginning September 4th.

IF YOUR CHILD IS AT RISK OF EXCLUSION FROM SCHOOL, PLEASE SCHEDULE THEIR IMMUNIZATIONS IMMEDIATELY
THEN EMAIL YOUR PROOF OF IMMUNIZATIONS TO THE FOLLOWING NURSES:

Elementary Immunizations: mgeppert@raiderweb.org
Middle and High School Immunizations: jneuschwander@raiderweb.org

MEDICATIONS:

According to Board Policy and the Public School Code of Pennsylvania, school nurses may not administer or dispense medication without written permission from a parent/guardian AND a doctor. Student Medication Forms are available on the HEALTH SERVICES page.

To enable your child to receive their medication on the first day of school, the District will be hosting a MEDICATION DROP-OFF NIGHT:

  • Wednesday, August 21, 2019, 5-7:00 p.m.
  • Fink/Kunkel/Reid: nurse’s offices
  • MAMS & MAHS: school lobbies

More information about the drop-off night, including what to bring with you, can be found HERE.

That's all for this week!
Keep up with your assignments so you don't get behind!
Who knows! You might even receive a sticker for good work!
