FREE LUNCHES

UPDATE 3/25/2020: Bagged lunches and snacks will continue to be served during the extended closure; however, the District will move to a 3-day serving schedule to reduce the number of food service personnel coming into the schools. Beginning Monday, March 30, service will be available at Fink and the HS from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. On Mondays, students will be given enough food for Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesdays, students will be given enough food for Wednesday and Thursday. On Fridays, students will be given enough food for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Remember that students must be in the car or walk-up to the outdoor distribution site in order to receive these bagged meals.

During the state-mandated closure of schools due to Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Middletown Area School District will be providing a FREE grab-and-go lunch and a snack to any children aged 18 and under.

EACH CHILD MUST BE PRESENT in order to receive the meal due to National School Lunch Program reimbursement guidelines. Meals will be given on a first come, first served basis until supplies run out. We will adjust supplies as we are able to gauge the level of community participation in the program.

WHO: any child, 18 years and under, regardless of home district

WHAT: a free lunch and a snack for breakfast the next morning. Both meals will be given at the same time. Lunches will include sandwiches, fresh vegetables, fruit and milk. Cereal and other assorted breakfast items and a milk will be provided for snack.

WHERE: Fink Elementary School (rear lot), 150 N. Race St. AND Middletown Area High School (front drive-up lane) 1155 N. Union St. Choose the location that is most convenient for your family.

WHEN: Beginning Monday, March 30, service will be available at Fink and the HS from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. On Mondays, students will be given enough food for Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesdays, students will be given enough food for Wednesday and Thursday. On Fridays, students will be given enough food for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

HOW: Walk-up and drive-thru service. No congregating at the location is permitted.

The District’s meal program will be supported through collaboration with the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the National School Lunch Program. Any child, 18 or under, will be eligible for the lunch and snack.

If the United States Department of Education, Governor’s Office and/or the Pennsylvania Department of Education provide new program guidance, it could modify and/or change the operations of the food distribution. Any such changes would be communicated through our District website. Thank you for your patience with District officials as we adjust to ever-changing circumstances during this unprecedented time.
