Teacher Appreciation Week

National Teacher Appreciation Week is May 3-7, 2021. This year, more than any other, our teachers and school staff members need encouragement and expressions of appreciation as this very grueling year comes to a close. Teaching during the pandemic has been challenging, frustrating and draining and your teachers need to know that the extra work they have put into this year does not go unnoticed. Don’t forget your principal and support staff!

Here are some gift suggestions to get you started. Some of these ideas even came directly from a few of our very own teachers!

  • Fun teacher magnets
  • Colorful teacher tote bags
  • Crazy teacher socks
  • A personalized sign with the teacher’s name to hang in their classroom
  • Items for the classroom: library books, board games for classroom recess
  • Send flowers or a plant and attach a note saying, “Thanks for helping me grow!”: fresh cut flowers from your yard, a small potted plant that they can plant at home, flower bulbs or wildflower seeds.
  • Coffee. Anything that smells like coffee. Anything that tastes like coffee. Anything that says coffee. Coffee. (if your teacher likes coffee)
  • Create a poster with a personal message such as “My teacher is the BEST!” and hang it behind your child when they are remote learning.
  • Gift cards: their favorite restaurant, coffee, spa treatments, or classroom supplies
  • Reusable water bottles filled with an assortment of pens, Sharpies, highlighters
  • A self-care package: a journal, bath bomb, and a nice-smelling candle.
  • A simple classroom decoration for your teacher to hang in their classroom
  • Record a video of your child saying thank you to their teacher and email it to them
  • Have your child write a poem for their teacher about what they’ve learned this year and why they’re thankful to be in their teacher’s class
  • Create this cute and crafty “chill pills” gift, a jar full of small candy for your child’s teacher to enjoy when they’re feeling stressed. That link also has many other creative gift ideas.
