Dr. Chelton Hunter Announces Hiring of New Assistant to the Superintendent

I am excited to announce Dr. Alexis Wertz has been hired as Middletown Area School District’s new Assistant to the Superintendent. Dr. Wertz received School Board approval at the June 11 Board meeting and will begin her new duties August 1. She replaces Dr. Scott Lindsey, who resigned in April.

Dr. Wertz brings with her an impressive background in education and is uniquely aware of the needs and challenges faced by our students and community. She has a proven track record of working with building-level leadership teams to create plans focused on student behavior, family involvement, and overall academic improvement. She understands the importance of building and maintaining a positive school climate through communication, trust, and care, and how these same elements factor into building an overall culture of care throughout the school district.

When you speak with Alexis you will quickly understand she has a passion for education and is committed to ensuring every student has equal access to opportunities for academic and personal growth and success.

Dr. Wertz’s experience at both the elementary and secondary levels as both a teacher and administrator, her strong understanding on how to increase student achievement, along with her transformational leadership skills make her an excellent fit for our school district.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Wertz to Middletown. I know she is eager to meet our students, staff, parents, and community partners. I look forward to working closely with her to take our District to the next level.
