CourtroomOn Tuesday, May 9, 2023, Magisterial District Judge Michael Smith visited Mr. Rytel’s Criminal Justice classes to teach courtroom procedures and answer students’ questions. In addition, on Friday, May 12, 2023, students in the Human Services Pathway spent the morning meeting with Magisterial District Judge David Judy to review courtroom procedures and to participate in several mock trials. The students also had an opportunity to meet with Middletown Detective Adam Tankersley and Police Sergeant Keegan Wenner to answer students’ questions about investigations and law enforcement.

“This was a great experience that taught me a lot about the proceedings in a courtroom and trial.” – Sean Erkenswick

“Judge Judy does a lot more than what people think. He explained very well in great detail how a trial works. I definitely want to pursue a career in this pathway!” – Destiney Gassert

“It was a really good experience. It definitely shows that there are tons of opportunities career-wise, and it was a lot of FUN!” – Jojo Gassert

Middletown Area School District greatly appreciates all of the hard work and support from our local law enforcement and judges! Thank you, Judge Judy, Judge Smith, Detective Tankersley and Sergeant Wenner for meeting with our students!
